‘Dissociation – A Journey to the Real’ as a project of immersive installation will be making a larger commentary on a main aspect through focus on the process of digitalization: the real is virtualized and re-presented to the public nowadays, in this case, how will people feel about the reverse process of restoring to the real. In this project, either the narrative of the scenes changing, or the narrative of the active interaction attempts to provide an unconventional process for the audience to rethink how the real been brought into the virtual, how people respond to the virtual world, how reality shapes human perception, and how the virtual uses them. 

From the perspective of installation art and involving current digitization trend, Panciloli, Russo and Macauda (2017) pointed out that although current virtualization effectively acts in a very diverse field, it rebuilds things in real space through technical means. But in terms of ‘all-around’, things in the real environment hard to be reproduced, especially works of art, whose physical existence and cognitive concepts have been more or less modified. They also mentioned “there is attention to immediate satisfaction that comes from digital and three-dimensional visual effects rather than research of elements of a
cognitive and relational nature.” This digitization and people’s perception of this process simplifies the multi-dimensional information of the real world, while
ignoring the richness of the original things and the many possibilities for their extension. Panciloli, Russo and Macauda (2017) notes that the lack leads the
virtual towards “hybrid” technological solutions. This is also the reason why we will locate the project in multiple sensory experiences and immersive installation
then. Of course, the impact of this sensory stimulation and visual effects is still at the stage of simple stimulation. Fortunately, because of the initial inspiration,
‘Dissociation’ initiated a further exploration of ‘a cognitive and relational nature’.
