After the last tutorial, we are scheduled to participate in the EMS “intro to Arduino, Raspberry Pi and IOT”. In the Intro, we collected many technical solutions and asked Connor Turansky about the support solutions for visual recognition, visual tracking and real-time projection devices. In the course, we were inspired by the demonstration and reminded of the resistive touch recognition sensor that we learned in the first year. After discussing with Connor Turansky, we found that this sensor can be compatible with multiple devices and projection creation software and produce multiple interactions.
Fortunately, many of the Arduino components he introduced were from the same manufacturers that we used in our interactive projects last year. This greatly reduces the difficulty of using components and makes it easier to get started with the Arduino IOT centre.
Many of the extensions are made by Seeed, a brand of DIY Adruino factory and have detailed instructions on their website. The touch sensing components are provided by Bare Conductive and also have very detailed online instructions. What’s more, EMS happened to have a kit of this funtional board, and we borrowed the entity that day.
Moreover, in the process, Connor Turansky gave several software support suggestions for projecting interactive art. These include the commercial authoring software MadMapper software discovered in our previous research and the free authoring software TouchDesigner provided by Derivative.
At the same time, in combination with the multiple software (view related content) collected by our previous research and experiential device that can interact with the audience in real-time through various sensors, which is in line with our plan. Next, we will explore the use of these software, and book or borrow related equipment for further experiments with the support of tutors and university resources.
After the course, we also booked a group tutorial with Connor Turansky through the EMS online platform and asked him about the rental of Arduino, vision sensors and other equipment and received a clear answer.
