13.11.2021 Multiple Trying and Demo on TouchDesigner

After the Tutorial with Chris on Thursday this week, we ordered a Kinect Motion Sensor from Chris to help us do some Tracking experiments. So I’m going to do some preparation on TouchDesigner.

First, I referred to several tutorials of TouchDesigner, including its UI interface, particle system, component description, and motion sensor linkage. Special thanks to TEA Community, a Chinese and foreign digital art promotion Community, which has cooperated with the authorities and several TD tutorial producers and produced a series of TD junior high school advanced tutorials. The tutorials by Noto The Talking Ball and Bileam Tschepe also helped me a lot, especially on The many common combination on TD.

After learning the basic usage, I followed these tutorials and tried to make some replicas and attempts, including replicating Bileam’s particle displacement and diffusion effects and trying to attach particles to specific shapes in preparation for future Kinect images.

In the Bileam tutorial, I explored some of TD’s elementary particle effects, as well as the features of components like Edge and Feedback. Later, I tried to recreate multiple effects from other creators to learn about TD’s component functionality. Here is a basic interactive component experiment. It works by tracking mouse position in real time and associating it with a solid square to collide with falling particles.

Finally, I explored the effects of Particle Component and its combinations, and made an initial attempt to build Particle Outlying. Although the effect is not perfect, it still shows some initial beauty of light and shadow art and particle combination.
